13-15 Princes Gate, Knightsbridge.
13-15 Princes Gate were erected in 1846-1849 by the speculative builder John Elger and his short-term partner Sir John Kelk, and are the easternmost in a terrace of 13 large Stucco-fronted houses opposite Hyde Park.
The late president Kennedy lived in 13-14 as a young man in the early 1930’s,When it was used by the US government as an ambassador's home, it was later owned by the Royal College of General Practitioners, who went on to also purchase House 15.
House 15 became the base to the SAS Elite Force when one of the most famous counter-terrorism operations took place in May 1980. The 5 day Iranian Embassy Siege went on to be a defining moment in British history.
In 2010, the 51,000 sq/ft Grade II listed building was purchased and planning permission granted to convert into a stunning family home. The strong historic presence of the terraces has inspired the designers’ resulting in uniquely designed bathrooms, entertainment areas and private spaces. However in order to achieve the desired result, the buildings had to be stripped back to Bare brickwork and exposed ceilings and floors allowing for full high-end M&E installation.
